The Flowering of Christ 36

F36.2 The forgiveness work that you have done is essential in creating space and distance from the memories. The best that can be hoped for is that the memories themselves become neutralized and accepted as part of your experience here. They made you who you are, even though they were unwelcome, unwarranted, unloving, and unjust. Acceptance of the situation as it unfolded is the most difficult part of not just surviving but thriving from sexual abuse trauma. The primary reason for this is that it is in fact true that this should not have happened. It would have been better if it hadn’t. This is absolutely true. It tore you to pieces instead of being something wholesome and enriching, which is what children need during their formative years. This said we can’t turn back the clock and change anything.
