He was selected for this mission because of the patriarchal power structure on the earth at that time, and that largely continues in this day and age. The mother figure was a means to an end type of support system. It was not seen as anything other than that, because women were not seen as anything other than that. To do otherwise wouldn't have been acceptable to those who were looking and judging what they saw. |
